Arrowtown, a gold mining town first established in 1860 when gold was discovered in the nearby Arrow river, thrives on its character.
In keeping with this, the Stables retains the heritage of the town, being erected in 1873 for Bendix Hallenstein, an early entrepreneur, for his horses.
The Stables still preserves the original workmanship and provides one of the best examples of stonestabling, being built of local schist and cemented with a pug mixture of lime and mud.
The Stables Restaurant open for lunch and dinner.
Private upstairs dining room available for your special occasions.
