The Winehouse & Kitchen is an innovative new wine tourism experience in Gibbston, Central Otago. Located adjacent to the Kawarau Bungy Bridge, our wine tasting room is a restored 100-year-old homestead showcasing van Asch wines from Central Otago and rockferry wines from Marlborough as well as Freefall wines of New Zealand, which take inspiration from the adventure that is Bungy.
The restaurant is a farmhouse concept with an emphasis on warm welcomes and hearty wholesome food in keeping with the homestead’s pastoral heritage. Our aim is to provide a restful, wine-educational experience to visitors and locals while also presenting a place to celebrate life with the facility available for evening functions and events.
The grounds of the Winehouse & Kitchen have stunning views of the surrounding mountainsides and Kawarau River while also offering croquet lawns, pottage gardens and even our own interpretive wine garden for visitors’ enjoyment.
Our guests are encouraged to take time to enjoy a picnic amongst our vineyards and landscaping, which complement the homestead’s riverside location. We are looking to progress wine tourism with the showcasing of our destination through the grape-growing, wine making and marketing of our local and regional wine brands.
