The Homestead
One of New Zealand's historic homes "Wallingford”, purported to be the largest single storey dwelling in the southern hemisphere, accommodates both large and small groups in grand and luxurious surroundings.
Surrounded by sweeping lawns, magestic English Oaks and expansive gardens, Wallingford provides a setting for complete privacy and relaxation with the comfort, charm, hospitality and style that embodies dignified country living in the deeply rural surroundings of Central Hawke's Bay.
The Homestead is warm and inviting in all seasons. In winter, guests return from their days activities to a homestead alive with roaring fires, fine wines from the cellar and superb dining prepared by in-house cordon bleu chef (holder of the NZ Beef & Lamb Hallmark of Excellence Award 2008 & 2009). During brilliant Hawke's Bay summers, the scene shifts to the pool and pavilion area where barbeques and cold drinks are the order of the day.
Wallingford is the ideal location for weddings, corporate functions, family reunions, golfing groups or weekend escapes. The living areas cater comfortably for groups of 70 people and for large functions the extensive lawns accommodate marquees with ease. The solar heated swimming pool and pavilion complex with a 55 inch plasma screen and excellent sound system is the perfect setting for a cocktail party. The double grass tennis courts and croquet lawns, with golf and shooting platforms, provide for complete in house entertainment.
Centering around the homestead is "Wallingford Station", a 3,000 acre sheep and beef cattle breeding station. The land is a mixture of fertile alluvial flats and easy rolling hill country. There are a number of farm and riverside walks including two QEII Native Bush Reserves covering 40 acres, one of them is an enjoyable and easy stroll from the Homestead.

Local Area
We are located in Central Hawke's Bay among coastal hill country typical of the North Island's East Coast and six miles inland from the long sandy beaches of Porangahau, with it's genuine nine hole golf links, and Blackhead known for it's outstanding rock and sea fishing.
To our north within a twenty minute drive are vineyards and golf courses in abundance, and trout fishing in the well known Tukituki River. A further twenty minutes takes you to the heart of Hawke's Bay Wine Country.

The Bedrooms
For couples wishing to have a special luxury break away the homestead has three Super King Master bedrooms each may be booked to include a private wing. The wings are completely private with verandahs and sitting rooms, each is about the size of a relatively substantial family home.
There are a further four large Super King bedrooms, three queens, four doubles and one single available for guests who wish to stay with us.
The size of the homestead and the number of bedrooms makes it an ideal venue for those running special reunions or weekends away with their friends or for Corporate groups and small conferences.

Dining
The Homestead's main formal dining room seats up to 40 people at a push with a separate formal drawing room and a less formal sitting room linked by double glass doors. Both have log fires. An Erard 1880 Grand Piano compliments the Homestead's sound system.
Superb dining is prepared by in-house cordon bleu chef (holder of the NZ Beef & Lamb Hallmark of Excellence Award 2008 & 2009). A wide variety of set menus are available.
