A review
The Fat Pigeon holiday home is great for families. It's fenced & has many extras; climbing frame, swings, bikes, kayaks, DVDs,lego & duplo ,board games & atmosphere.
"Hi Liz, We just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU for a wonderful stay. Even when it was raining we had a perfect time indoors, with all the games and videos. The kids loved it, and want to come back again. Everything was perfect – it is such a beautiful spot and a beautiful house. So hopefully we will see you again in summer.
Have a wonderful and busy year.
Regards
Nicky McAnulty

About Lake Tarawera & Rotorua
Lake Tarawera is a small lakeside settlement just 25 minutes from Rotorua, NZ's most popular tourist city. Lake Tarawera is famous for it's fishing of rainbow trout. It has a unique hotwater beach where natural hot springs bubble up through the lake bed & natural hot pools only accessible by boat or a four hour walk. Mt Tarawera forms a stunning backdrop to this rainforest surrounded lake. The mountain is a volcano which erupted in 1886 destroying the famous pink & white terraces.

our holiday homes & business
We own five holiday homes both at Lake Tarawera and at Kuaotunu near Whitianga. This is our full time job and we like to think we do this with energy and flair. Together we have created holiday homes that are unique, clean and organised. Ideal for anyone wanting a relaxing holiday in these self contained homes. Families are very welcome. Liz has worked extensively with children and families in the past and Mike has owned farms and a campground which he built up and ran. Well trained house dogs are also welcomed. We get so many returnees to all of our holiday homes with many comments like "They are so personal and just like home" and "I love the art and picures. So well set up.We will be back". Its also ideal for two families to rent a house each, as at both Lake Tarawera and Kuaotunu there are 2 houses next door to each other. We are qualified skippers and have a luxury pontoon boat for trips on Lake Tarawera. Come and experience our hospitality.

Things to do
There's plenty to do for families & for anyone who wants to be active. Kayaks are available for your use. (share with our holiday home next door.)A 4 day walking track is being established around Lake Tarawera. The first 14 kms is available to walk. There are also other existing walks only accessible by boat. We can water taxi you. There is a restaurant in the area, a museum, walks & cafe at nearby Buried Village which was destroyed by the volcanic eruption of Mt Tarawera in 1886.
There's amazing bird life, verdant native bush with abundance of tree ferns and temperate rainforest.
