Raina Beach House - Reviewed by Richard from New Zealand in August 2019. Our overall stay was great. We came across a few issues;
1. The first of our group that arrived in Rarotonga had arranged to be picked up from airport but there was noone there when they arrived. Regardless of the missed pick up we were still asked every day to pay the $50 for early check in.
2. The jug was faulty and a bit dangerous to use.
3. Would have liked more information on how the hot water worked. Rating: 3.6

Raina Beach House - Reviewed by Elly in January 2016. Fantastic place to stay! We loved being so close to the sea and having the beach practically to ourselves most of the time. Private and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this house for those who just want to come and relax at the beach. It was perfect for that. Everything was provided (kayak, loungers) and Brian looked after us wonderfully. Appreciated that he was on site if we needed anything. Would definitely stay here again. Loved the Raro experience and staying here was the best! Awesome value for money for our family of 5 - 3 young adults and us (parents). Thank you!!! Rating: 5.0

Raina Beach House - Reviewed by Richard from New Zealand in February 2015. Awesome location, very private, peaceful and in front of the best snorkeling beach on the island. In the beach at our backdoor step we found a moray eel, puffer fish, big blue trevally, heaps of little fish and beautiful schools of parrot fish. The house is as expected although my only negative comment is that the garden/hedges at the back of the property had grown since the last photo was taken. It was quite different from the photo as you couldn't see the beach clearly from the deck as what the photo portrayed. And the tv didnt work but we didnt need that anyway. The three rooms are huge with big king size beds and having two big bathrooms was a bonus. Our little family of 5 was well catered for, fridge, washing machine, stove everything else worked well, and having good internet in the house was awesome (you have to buy data credit from the shop just down the road). Overall excellent property, I give this property 5/5. Rating: 4.9

Raina Beach House - Reviewed by Vanessa from New Zealand in August 2013. The shower that ran over the bath was faulty, when the hot water was turned to warm the water did not come through the shower nozzle, it only came through the bath, was a real pain my hubby had to sit and hold the lever for me so I could have a hot shower. There were only 4 breakfast bowls and there were 5 of us at the property and the 3rd double room was not nice, it had little to no curtains and there were hornets in there when we arrived. Raina Beach House - Reviewed by David from New Zealand in March 2013. I was unsure of what the phone number in the house was, and wasn't too sure on where the property owner/manager was staying to ask? But apart from that I would recommend this place. Rating: 4.2

Raina Beach House - Reviewed by Pat from New Zealand in November 2012. This house is in a superb location right next to a dairy and fairly close to various restaurants, cafes and takeaways. The snorkelling directly in front of the house is the best we encountered anywhere on the island. The house is roomy and airy and the fans were enough to keep us reasonably cool and comfortable. It is quite basic and the decor is a bit (ok, a lot) tired, but if you want air conditioned opulence you can pay through the nose at one of the resorts. We did an afternoon cruising round the resorts and came away very pleased that we had chosen this beach house instead.
The google maps location shown on this web site is way off. Go to google maps and paste this location into the search box: -21.271429,-159.745192
The only thing that annoyed me was the shower over the bath. - The switch keeps dropping the water flow back to the bath tap if you turn the heat up or if someone turns a tap on somewhere else in the house.
The bottom line is great location, good value for money, and you absolutely WILL have a great holiday here. We sure did, and there has already been talk of returning...
Thanks! Rating: 4.4
Owners response to this comment: We have put in the co ordinates you suggested however the map position seems to be the same.

Raina Beach House - Reviewed by Craig from Australia in January 2013. This is a great place to stay for two or three couples or a family. In some ways the Homes for Hire listing didn't do it justice. I think it has had a coat of paint since we booked or the photos were taken. The location was fantastic. The property is a little old and worn in parts but we expected that. Rating: 5.0

Raina Beach House - Reviewed by Jeneane from New Zealand in November 2011. The house is on an excellent part of the island just a minutes walk down the road from the Fruits of Rarotonga which is a prime snorkelling location. Loved the fact that the house sits right on the beach, you walk out your door and 10 steps you are on a beautiful beach!!. It would have been handy to have the two kayaks that were stated in the property details but in the end that didn't matter still had a great time. The one thing I would recommend is having more than 2 fans in the house to keep cool during the night. If you leave doors open it is best to invest in insect repellent and mozzie coils otherwise prepare to be bitten all over!. The only other problem I found was a lady who works for Raina Beach House constantly turned up every 3rd day to ask how many people we had staying in the house and at times it felt very intrusive a phone call would have been sufficient I can't remember how many times I told her there were only 3 of us except for the one occassion that our brother stayed but we did advise the property manager of this as it is $25 extra for any person who stays over the 3 allowed. Other than that we had a great time swimming and snorkelling our time away while at the house the property manager was only a phone call away if you need anything and was always helpful. If you are looking for a big house with lots of room that's on a fantastic part of the island then book this house you will love it!! Rating: 3.9

Raina Beach House - Reviewed by Sheryl from New Zealand in May 2011. We had a great stay at Raina Beach House, its location was perfect, the house spacious and clean, right on the beach front, acccess to food shops, nice resorts, motorbike/car hire and incredible snorkeling (snorkeling gear available for hire at house) and kayaking (available for use at house, no charge). We had most of everything we could need for cooking. If I were to complain it would be that the stunning views of the beach were hidden by overgrown plants, the lounge suite could be way more comfortable, the bus driver could have sent us to the right house on night of arrival (3am), and someone there to meet us as stated, and perhaps the bath could look a ittle more inviting. But honestly I am really pleased we chose to stay at Raina Beach House, and would consider staying there again. Rating: 4.1

Raina Beach House - Reviewed by Siani from New Zealand in July 2010. As a first time visitor to Rarotonga my excellent visitor experience was particularly enhanced because of the property and it facilities, its location and the interaction with the property owner and caretaker of the home.
My 5 rating of the property owner interaction is because of their excellent customer service and friendly manner towards me and my whanau.
My 4 rating for the actual property is because I have high expectations and they need to be exceeded to get the highest rating.
I have no complaints about the actual house which provided us with all the facilities as advertised. I would comment though that during our stay we had a stormy night with high winds and heavy rain for short periods and the enclosed external bedroom there was a leak that needs fixing. I believe the rental charge for the property was spot on, in particular because of the number of people the property caters for which is important when a family resides at the property.
Otherwise I would definiately rebook this accommodation again.
Thank you Home for hire for your excellent website and interaction management with the property owners because prompt and efficent response times are essential to confirming booking arrangements. I have recommended your website for accommodation bookings because of this excellent service as I have found other websites very poor in comparison.
