The property was further from town than indicated. This wasn't too much of a problem for me as I needed the peace and lack of distractions but it certainly wasn't the 5 min walk advertised, more like 20. The host Haumata was lovely and went beyond the call of duty in taking care of me.

Beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Loved the little piglets running around, and loved being able to eat fresh coconuts, pawpaws and limes from the garden trees. Wasn't so keen on the huge momma spider that has taken residence in the wash shed though! Nearly went into cardiac arrest. All part of the experience. Thank you!

May I suggest a card with the property address and phone number on it for the guests. The address was needed for taxis, scooter rentals, and getting my licence etc.
Overall I found the property fantastic, conveniently located, the neighbours were friendly, the pigs, goats, chickens and coconut trees around the property very Rarotongan. Thank you for allowing us to stay.

Tranquil bush location. Great location with beautiful jungle backdrop, well set up, clean and tidy. Highly recommended to all who want to experience true Rarotonga life away from the hubub of tourists

I didnt read the details of the property properly about the location and am happy with where we stayed... a t.v would of been nice as the trip up to the studio was a long rough road... which meant we were not keen to go back down the road for entertainment... it is absolutely quiet and blissful up there... we made friends with a pig.. recommend this property if you have a rental vehicle....

Track up to property is 1/2 klm, now very muddy in places and you have to pass at least 3 very scary dogs, you really need to rent a car not a m/cycle especially if you want to go out at night.
But a nice property in a lovely elevated spot.

We had a great stay at Puanini Studio, the whole process- payment, arrangment for pickup & email communication was very efficient. It was wonderful being greeted at the airport with Flower Lays & the room was presented beautifully & very clean. We were pleasently surprised to find all the extras included. (cleaning products, washing powder bug spray & even sunscreen!) It had a flat screen tv which had a couple of tv chanels & dvd player & there was a cd player also. All linen & towels provided, fully equipt kitchen with oven & large fridge. We enjoyed the large decking. Fairly central location, just down a long driveway.Island car & bike hire is a 10minute walk down the driveway & has the best value scooters & cars for hire. Our family members who all stayed at the edgewater resort were all impressed with our unique find & definately thought it was value for money. Would def stay again if we were to return.

A marvellously warm welcome from Haumata, complete with floral necklaces was just the start to our great experience at Puanini Studio. Sure, it doesn't have sunset views, but it has lush green forest on the surrounding hills and beaches are a short drive away.
Apart from the odd rooster sound (which add to the authenticity of the place), it is a very peaceful spot to enjoy the tranquility of Rarotonga. We explored the beached by day and enjoyed sunsets followed by a return to our peaceful haven.
Supplied with fresh Papaya, coconuts and chillies from the property, we felt very welcome and comfortable. In the kitchen, there was everything we needed to cook a good meal, including a sharp knife.
The place isn't easy to find (which is part of the charm) and the dogs on the lane are a little initimidating yet harmless. The lane has recently been resealed which I understand was necessary.
All in all, I would recommend Puanini Studio to anyone needing a quiet place to base themselves - car is useful. We also highly recommend checking out the lovely singing at the church service - not to mention the spoiling of 'refreshments' after church... Thanks!

The property is in the hills a 20 minute walk from Avarua, due to the location and unsealed road, I suggest a vehicle of some sort. We hired bikes and found the property less isolated as the bikes allowed us the freedom to explore the Island and venture out in the evenings. The home is lovely, Haumata - the property manager and our wonderful host welcomed us at the airport with fragrant ai's and was extremely accommodating. The home has all the amenities you need for a relaxing stay, the mountains are amazing and the cool breeze a welcome relief from the heat of the day. A powerful mosquito repellent is a must if you wish to enjoy the outside deck so bring a good brand. There are coils and it is recommended to use plenty to repel them.

Amazing friendly host and cute, house with everything you need! Only thing is it is on the opposite island to the main beach where you swim at, I thought it was closer (says 20 min wallk but this is to the coral side where you can't swim). Wasn't a negative though because we would just scooter around and then at night time it was nice to be close to town for dinner. Loved it!

Owners response to this comment: Thank you for your comment. The nearest, best beach where the locals swim is Nikao Beach which is approximately 20 minutes walk along the back road (opposite the Golf Course). Thanks again. Regards.

This property was exactly what we were looking for, It was a short walk to town and airport. Close to scooter hire. Haumata was very helpful. We had trouble with our flights but no problems at all with the applying our new dates and arrangements. Very good.

Was a bit further away from town then expected, but excellent for what I wanted which was fully self contained. The washing machine did not go, but I was told of that on Arrival. The host of the property was very helpfull and lovely to deal with. I would highly recommend this as good quality budget accommodation

Accomodation Features
A spacious and modern interior design reflecting a comfortable and refreshing home living. The cool mountain breeze flows freely through the louvre and sliding windows. Secured insect screens keep out any unwanted harmless insects. The wide decking is partially covered and can be enjoyed throughout the day and into the night - the views on a moonlit night over the mountains is spectacular! The Sleepyhead kingsize bed can be easily converted into 2 king single beds, or convert the stylish sofa into a firm bed and you'll enjoy a blissful sleep. There is a good supply of clean linen and towels for your use. The hot/cold water is in plentiful supply from the homes' own catchment water tanks and solar heating. The home is fitted with new appliances and whiteware that is easy to use. Although the laundry space is a little rustic it contains a new fisher and pykel washing machine and all essential laundry equipment. Surrounding the house are a wide variety of edible local fruit trees. You will enjoy surprising sights of beautiful birds flying among the forest tops in the mountains during the day. In the evenings, while enjoying the evening outdoor; you may be able to capture a rare occurence. It is a pleasant sweet floral breeze drifting down from the mountain slopes. The scent is very brief and it is from a small red flower that blooms on a very large Puanini Tree (thus, the name Puanini Studio) found deep in the mountains.

Studio Location
It's convenient location is within 15-20 minutes walking distance to the main town Avarua, bike and car hire venues, shops, markets, entertainment venues, library, churches, cultural activities, public transport and popular restaurants and bars. The best swimming spot is Nikao beach and it is within walking distance or a bus ride. The home is unlike all other vacation spots, it is situated in a very quiet, safe, and friendly neighbourhood of 3 homes; a dentist, a local carver, a local small family who all appreciate quiet and respectful visitors. You will feel a part of the local community. The home sits on a hill rise and offers maximum privacy and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and Avarua reef. It's hard to believe you are holidaying on an island! - it's a combination of lush green forests and mountains and an idyllic island vacation.//
There are many activities, facilities and events that you may enjoy on Rarotonga. Visit the 'Information Centre' located in Avarua town (walking distance, near the Pearl Shops beside the main CITC shopping centre). There is information on Piri climbing coconut trees, bike trekking, mountain trekking, diving, fishing trips, the Cultural Centre in Arorangi, day visits to Aitutaki (beautiful beaches!), island walks, best cafes, and many more. Local hotels offer facilities for use eg.tennis courts and equipment, swimming pools, bars and restaurants, great culture shows called Island Nights are very lively and entertaining, you may visit Sunday church times, national library/museum, the culture centre will have annual events during your visit. Enjoy your holiday!
