Great value for your money. Don't expect 4 Star hotel facilities, but the service from Cathy is Five-Star all the way! She meet us on arrival at the house even though it was 2.00 am in the morning with fresh fruit and a warm welcome. She continued to drop off fresh fruit every couple of days. The location is superb for relaxing and having fun on Muri beach. The kayaks were used every day to paddle around the various little island in the Lagoon. Muri Night market was just a 5 min walk down the road. There is a little store about 50 metres up the road to purchases all those little things you may want. There are also lots of restaurants and cafes within a 5 min walk. This is great spot to relax and unwind in the sun and sea, too bad it sadly had to end!

This is a great spot to relax at and the owners and owners sons are excellent as well for info and general helpfulness..would highly recommend..also, going kyaking at low tide is a great idea once you get out a bit deeper on a calm day the fish life is sensational and water temperature was great in late april..very good value here too, cheap accomadation for the location etc..nice fruit too, although we found out best time is between december and febuary for mangoes and more plentiful supply of other fruits...in april is their avacado season and some are almost the size of a coconut..coconuts are abundant and free just outside the door..hire a car for $40 per day is good value too, the roads are a bit bumpy in places so went this way instead of scooters..a bit safer..anyway, just a wonderful place for a holiday, thanks Paul..

Poreo cottage is a lovely home away from home which offers everything you might need for a perfect vacation. The location is superb, just meters from the water and a really short walk to all cafes and restaurants at Muri. The host, Cathy, made our stay even better by leaving us home grown fruits and showing us how to open a coconut. On arrival we were also very pleasantly surprised by finding in the fridge milk, juice and biscuits for our first morning. We brought our own salt and pepper which was pointless because there was salt, pepper, oil, sugar and tea.
All in all, Cathy and family are amazing hosts and we felt so well there that we wouldn't change Poreo cottage for any of the luxury hotels on the island!

I would recommend Poreo Place to work colleagues, family and friends with young children because of its location and safety near the water. We found the whare met our every need. The way in which you welcomed us and made us feel at home was excellent and throughout our stay you gave us plenty of space in which to do our own thing. We all appreciated Paul's history lesson on Island life and passing on his skills and knowledge on how to open a coconut. May the Lord continue to bless you and all your whanau.

ccomodation enjoyed our stay here. Thank you so much Cathy for your welcome late at night. The cottage exceeded our expectations. We had everything we needed. Loved the kayaks. Just accross the garden and we were on the beach. The location is brilliant Muri Beach is brilliant and the cottage is at the quiet end but only a few minutes walk along beach to restaurants and shops. Our first time on rarotanga but would love to go back and would certainly stay here again and will recommend this accommodation. Would also be great for extended family as there are three separate houses in same large garden. Many thanks Cathy and Paul for making us feel so welcome and going the extra mile. Very much appreciated. Snorkeling also good in the lagoon.

Great cottage......everything we needed...love the porch and outdoor shower as well as an indoor shower......perfect for us as we were kitesurfing and with easy access to the beach almost at our door and near the best kitesurfing beach we were happy....the owners son Tearaki was very welcoming, friendly, helpful and considerate....top marks from us....we will return......

Fabulous location; wonderful hosts. Cathy and Paul could not have made our stay any more perfect. The cottage is delightful and the location so close to the beach was better than described. A few steps and we were in our own little Paradise.
Loved the daily visits from the neighbouring dogs (we adopted one for the duration of our stay!) and the local wildlife were pretty well behaved ... chirruping geckos and cackling myna birds. The roosters were noisy but we figure, that's just a part of being in Rarotonga!!
The use of the kayaks was a real bonus as we had superb weather and popped out on the lagoon mornings and late afternoon.
Cathy & Paul spoiled us with fruit from their own trees plus dropped off a wonderful basket of fruits & wine to help us celebrate our wedding anniversary. They joined us for a farewell drink the night before we left - we really should have done that sooner - they are the most convivial people :)
A past guest mentioned the lighting in the cottage wasn't great (it was definitely ambient) so we took mini clip-on lights for our books. Plus if you have an iPad, it really wasn't an issue.
We absolutely loved our stay here; so convenient to everywhere we wanted to be (although anywhere is pretty convenient, really) and a lovely setting to while away the hours either on the beach or at the cottage itself.
Our holiday was far too short and we'll be back in September.

Cathy and Paul have a great home here and superb hospitality to match. Cathy was there on arrival (early hours of the morning) to welcome us and make sure we had everything. There was a nice bowl of fruit which Cathy also topped up during the week. Paul told us stories and showed us how to husk a coconut. Great property close to the beach with everything you need. Thank again! Pitty our holiday was cut short!

We loved this cottage, simple but perfect for our needs. In a quiet position 30 seconds from the beautiful beach and lagoon.
Unfortunately the owners where away which was a little disappointing because the reviews had described them as fabulous hosts and we had been looking forward to meeting them, however everyone needs a break sometimes!!! Electra( in charge of cottage) welcomed us and her parents came and chatted one day during the week, the gardener brought us bananas and the Taxis driver ,Midge, was a mind of information so we were well looked after.
We bought wifi voucher from Bluesky down the road from the cottage and this worked very well whilst sitting outside on the patio, most of the time!
The only item we would have liked would have been a more relaxing chair to sit on whilst reading under tree etc
Would be very happy to stay here again.

We found Poreo a relaxing peaceful place to stay with very good service from Electra. The fruit bowl was much appreciated. Only thing was that we are in older bracket & lighting at night for reading was not quite bright enough. Great location & loved being able to pop down to beach for a swim. Outside shower was great for getting rid of sand.

Perfect spot situated steps away from the lagoon and shops!
Loved going for a swim then coming back and sitting on the deck with a drink and book and completely unwinding like i never have before!

The cottage was perfect for us and was a higher quality than what we expected. Excellent value. Our hosts were brilliant !! Very friendly and generous and we can't speak highly enough of them for making our holiday that bit more special due to their company and sharing of local knowledge. Right on the beach, kayaks to use, close to town but out of the main throng. Was great !!

Very Nice quiet Batch to stay in. Batch had all your basic needs covered. Perfect for a real getaway from it all holiday. Muri village a few minutes down the road for a great selection of places to eat out. The beach was only a very short walk across front lawn and then it felt like you had your own piece of paradise. Will stay again

A lovely relaxed beach cottage with the basic essentials you need for an island holiday. Flag the resorts and the swimming pools and go for the "Homes for Hire" especially on the beach front - very private and way more relaxing. Our hosts Paul and Cathy were just lovely and checked in to make sure we were fine and topped up our fruit supply. We hope to be back.

Lovely spot, truly only a few steps from the beach! At the quiet end of Muri Beach, but the action is only a short wander down the beach. Good snorkelling over towards the island and out towards the reef, lots of pretty little tropical fish, but sadly the lagoon is overfished. The lagoon is shallow all the way out you don't have to be experienced of brave to see things, but do go out a couple of hundred metres as the visibility improves quite a bit. A few small grocery stores easy to walk to, have all the basics you need. Also the Muri Beach night market is a great option for delicious affordable dinners. Post office, Internet cafe, restaurants, car and scooter hire, jewellery, clothes, all the same few hundred metre stroll down the road in Muri. Cathy and Paul are lovely people and excellent hosts.

The suite was perfect for my partner and I, Cathy and Paul were very welcoming and kind, very humble people who looked after us and bought us fruit now and then which was lovely. Great value for money
The Owners/managers were amazing, we came with a group who stayed in a flashier place on the other side of the island but overall we had the best pick of the bunch, we even had fruit on arrival and at mid stay too, they showed us how to open a Coconut the RAR way, we had the use of Kayaks, were 20 meters from the beach, and the Muri village & markets,
We will definitely stay here again and will be telling everyone about this little humble piece of paradise

I have answered no opinion for the second to last question "How well were any problems/issues that may have arisen handled by the property owner/manager?" as I did not raise any issues and there for am unable to comment.
I can however say that our stay was most enjoyable, the property offered all that we needed and we were very comfortable and extremely happy with the property. My interactions by email with the owner Cathy and the home for hire team were all friendly, prompt, informative and helpful and my interactions with the property manager Electra by email and in person were all outstanding. Electra was very helpful, extremely welcoming and accommodating and overall a pleasure to deal with.

Absolutely amazing accomodation!!! - exceeded all expectations - so close within walking distance to all the amenities shops, cafes, supermarket, resorts, car and bike hire and the beach right there outside 'perfect!' the cottage was immaculately clean - the owners Cathy and Paul were incredible hosts very warm and inviting - at short notice they arranged taxi transfers and when i looked up taxi rates on the internet their taxi transfer was even cheaper - they were there to meet and greet us - we spent 24 hours on route from canada to raro having had no sleep and arrived at 7am checkin was not until 3 pm however Cathy and Paul allowed us to have the cottage immediately plus they gave us tea, milk, fresh juice and fresh fruit which was not included in the price - I highly reccomend this cottage don't expect mod cons or exqusite furnishings its a batch without the exorbitant 5 star costs that the rest of raro accomodation charge - We didn't want to leave - I will definitely be going back - thanks Cathy and Paul for making our holiday blissfull and idealic
