Pacific Time Holiday House - Reviewed by valerie in June 2016. Lovely, comfortable and clean home to stay in while enjoying beautiful Rarotonga. The busy road noise competing with the many roosters was an unwanted distraction but wouldn't stop me from staying there again!
My only criticism was the mouldy smell coming from beneath the kitchen sink and cupboards..there is an issue with water there (leak or bench seals) that needs repair...please pass onto the owners as these problems will only get worse if left.
Will definitely recommend this holiday home to my friends :-)
Kind Regards

Pacific Time Holiday House - Reviewed by Annette from New Zealand in September 2015. The accommodation was absolutely brilliant and the pool was an added bonus. Barry who met with us and gave us some great options of places to see was absolutely wonderful - he's an absolute asset to have onboard.
Our kids loved it and it had such a family feeling about it that our children loved the area. Our neighbours, Logo and his wife were brilliant. They popped over to see us when there was a Tsunami warning to give us the heads up and even said they would take us up to the hill if need be. Beautiful accommodation, surroundings and helpful neighbours and Property Manager. Would definitely stay there again when we return to Rarotonga. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your accommodation!! From the Tiaiti and Asiata family Rating: 4.9

Pacific Time Holiday House - Reviewed by Karen from New Zealand in June 2015. Was a fantastic place to stay very central to where all the other wedding guests were staying, had lots of visitors and was an ideal place to have a pre wedding BBQ. Very well equipped.Lots of room for a 4 year old to run around, bit worried about the dogs roaming through the property though. Many thanks Barry for the delicious bananas and the passionfruit were the best we have ever tasted. Enormous shower ideal for cleaning a wedding dress! Would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend to others. Gabrielle and Paul very easy to deal with.
Many thanks
Karen, Mark Lisa and Tayla Greer.

Pacific Time Holiday House - Reviewed by Darren from New Zealand in September 2014. We found this property perfect for our needs and wants. The shop and scooter hire were so handy and the bus stop just as close not that we needed it as a very friendly local picked us up before the bus got there and took us to the market. We found Barry very informative and so helpful, he even provided us with an extra BBQ when we had 40 of our friends and family over, the patio and yard functioned beautifully for this and impressed them very much. The welcome refreshment were a pleasant surprise. We definitely recommend this property to others and we would not hesitate in staying again. Thank you for helping make our trip to Rarotonga so memorable. Kia Manuia (Good health and long life). Rating: 4.8

Pacific Time Holiday House - Reviewed by Danny from New Zealand in February 2013. House was great, we had lovely time. Grout in shower tiles in shower base could have been little cleaner, but really nothing major. Noted that booklet asked us to change sheets (just to help avoid staining of sheets with sunblock etc) but there were only the sheets that were on the beds when we arrived? Again, not a major for us - only mention it because the booklet in property talks about it. Property manager very helpful and friendly and the house has a nice feel in a hot climate, very well stocked in terms of kitchen stuff etc, would def stay again and recommend to others :-) Oh and loved the roosters at dawn lol! ;-) 'No opinion' re problems/issues because we didn't have any that needed dealing with, pretty sure that had there been, property manager would have sorted for us :-) Rating: 4.9
Owners response to this comment: Thanks very much for detailed feedback - we're very glad you were comfortable and enjoyed your stay, we will be taking up those issues with our cleaning team. They should certainly have left out extra sheets for you...but since the only Rarotonga laundry burned down a few months ago, laundry has been a challenge so this may have thrown the usual system out. Anyway, thanks again for your comments.

Pacific Time Holiday House - Reviewed by Wendy from New Zealand in January 2012. Sorry, we been up at our holiday house in Taupo. When we arrived at the house our transfer people had to go back to office to get keys for house. The lawns and hedges were being trimed, your neighbours down the drive complained about the mess on the drive side I called Barry and he promptly turned up to remove hedge mess. It did take a few more days for grass cuttings to be removed. Dishes we used had not been cleaned properly. Minor issues, we would use your property again( hopefully January 2013) and I would recommend to friends and family. Rating: 4.7
Owners response to this comment: Your feedback is most appreciated, and we are following up on the key and dishes issues with the people concerned - the timing of the yard maintenance was unfortunate and should not have happened but I'm glad it was resolved quickly. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and plan to return! Kia Manuia!

The Perfect Holiday Destination
Great value Pacific Time Holiday House ticks all the boxes for people wanting to avoid the hotels and resorts and stay in their own private tropical house with all the comforts of home. The Kiwi owners have furnished and equipped the house with all you need for a great home-away-from-home holiday, based on their own years of visiting the Cooks and their understanding of what is important to most people seeking that memorable getaway visit : quality beds, modern bathroom and kitchen, pleasant relaxing areas inside and outside, and a good location… nice surroundings and interesting places to eat and drink at within an easy walk – if this sounds like you, look no further, we have it all right here!
|
What's It Like Inside?
The house itself is modern in style with high vaulted ceilings, open design with spacious living area – airy kitchen, loads of counter space and plenty of storage drawers; open to dining and living area which opens via double glass doors to generous front lanai (verandah) with outdoor furniture (we have most meals out there). The covered front verandah leads to a trellised sundeck and pool (child-safe surrounds). A similar back lanai facing west offers an alternative area to enjoy the tropical outdoors, with BBQ and more seating. A large tiled bathroom has a huge step-down tiled shower, shared by two good-sized double bedrooms each with split-king beds – each room making into a super king or two full singles. Optional extra (third) bedroom has en suite bathroom, glass doors opening onto tropical garden.Ceiling fans and insect screens throughout the house plus the breezy open design ensures a comfortable environment in all seasons.
The kitchen has a full gas stove (electric oven), toaster, kettle, plus extra appliances such as sandwich-maker, full frig with freezer, well equipped with cookware and tableware. All linens supplied – quality bed sheets and covers, bath towels and beach towels, washing-machine for your use; tropical cane furniture throughout.
|
Outside the Property and Close By
Outside, the house sits in its own large hedged garden with a big flat lawn and ringed by various fruit and flowering trees – pawpaw, breadfruit, banana, mango, passionfruit, lychee, tiare, hibiscus and others. The immediate location offers loads to see and do – very close by is the bus stop, car and bike hire and a small group of shops with convenience store, cafe, takeway, post etc. Within easy walking distance are several restaurants, beach bars, dive shops, fast food, churches, resorts with restaurants and pools, beauty spas etc. The beach is a 100 metre walk, and the lagoon is good for swimming in the sandy patches that abound, or snorkeling over the coral heads at most tides - waist deep wallowing is still possible at dead low tide.

Local Amenities and Raro Recommendations
Our local manager, Lhia, comes to greet you with the traditional tuatau (orientation) soon after your arrival and this is an informal and friendly way to introduce you to the varied experiences of Rarotonga. This is a good time to bring up any special requests or questions you may have.
We have some special favourites, most of which are close enough to walk and forget the bike or car … some of these are Waterline Restaurant and Beach Bar (loads of ambience, outdoor sunset dining overlooking the beach, and live music on Wednesday nights) … Manuia Beach restaurant and bar for lazy lunches or drinks down on the beach (just 3 doors away)…yummy fresh hamburgers from Roadhouse/bar … Tumunu Restaurant for the real-deal Raro experience… wonderful food at Anchorage (all these within 5 to 10 minutes walk) and further afield: Highland Paradise for a spellbinding cultural tour, island-style feast and dance performance, transfers from house included … Trader Jacks near the harbour in Avarua for stunning views, cold beers and ike mata (Polynesian raw fish) … boutique shopping near Banana Court in town for amazing finds …hanging out at Sails at Muri Beach to eat, drink, watch the sailing club in action in beautiful Muri lagoon… even a new and very popular local Arorangi cafe named Beluga with great barista coffee …. and so many more highlights too numerous to list.
