Huon Bush Retreats is an award winning, carbon neutral retreat offering self-contained cabins against an inspiring backdrop of Tasmanian native forest, just 50 minutes’ drive south of Hobart. We offer a peaceful and secluded environment with a 5km bushwalking track network and an abundance of wildlife on your doorstep. Please note we are a true bush retreat with 4km of narrow winding gravel road.

A True Retreat
Huon Bush Retreats has been designed as a true retreat. Each self contained cabin is separate and private. Streamside and Clifftop cabins are totally secluded. All cabins are free from TV and other electrical appliances with the exception of the supplied compact disc player.
Electricity for lighting and supplied CD player comes from 12 volt solar power (as opposed to regular 240 volt which is in most homes). Most mobile phones work well. If you need to charge a mobile phone, camera or laptop, we can do so for you at reception.
We take environmental protection seriously. Our Green Tourism certification shows that we exceed best practice in all respects.

Acacia Grove Studio Cabin
A contemporary, spacious eco-cabin situated within a Silver Wattle grove, this studio cabin offers expansive views and a mossy native lawn, perfect for watching the resident wildlife as you sit by the fire inside.
Acacia Grove is self-contained with gas cooking facilities, kitchen/dining/lounge area, en-suite bathroom, wood heater and a private deck with an outdoor bath.
This sunny cabin is ideally suited for couples or small families. It is equipped with a queen-sized bed and bunks. A double sofa bed is also available.

Big Tree Studio Cabin
A contemporary, spacious eco-cabin nestled in the forest offering easy access, privacy and spectacular views of old growth forest.
Big Tree Cabin is a self-contained studio cabin with gas cooking facilities, kitchen/dining/lounge area, en-suite bathroom, a cosy wood heater and a private deck with an outdoor bath.
Ideally suited for couples it is equipped with a queen-sized bed. A single trundle and a sofa bed are also available.

A contemporary, spacious eco-cabin situated in its own secluded patch of forest. Its huge deck takes advantage of lofty views of the surrounding forest and spectacular distant valley and mountain views.
Clifftop is a generous two-bedroom cabin with gas cooking facilities, kitchen, dining and lounge area, bathroom and separate toilet, wood heater, a large deck with a private outdoor bath. Clifftop is ideally suited for families, friends traveling together, staff retreats and small conferences. The main bedroom has a queen-sized bed, while the second bedroom has queen-sized bed and double bunks.

Wallaby Grassland 2 Bedroom Cabin
A contemporary, spacious eco-cabin situated in an open Silver Wattle forest with outdoor space for children to play. Wallaby Grassland is a generous two-bedroom cabin with gas cooking facilities, kitchen, dining and lounge area, bathroom and separate toilet, wood heater, a large deck and upstairs balcony. Treat yourself to an outdoor bath under the stars in a private setting, just a short walk away on the edge of the forest.
Wallaby Grassland can sleep up to 10 people: the main bedroom has a queen-sized bed and double bunks, while the large upstairs bedroom has a queen-sized bed, two single beds and an optional trundle bed. This cabin can be reconfigured as a large open plan meeting space. With level access and wheel-in bathroom with grab rails, shower seat and raised toilet, Wallaby Grassland meets mobility disability standards.
