Relax by the fire with a glass of local wine or take in the view from the deck surrounded by native birds and wildlife. With easy access to 5km of interpreted walking tracks through rainforest, to a hidden waterfall or a mountaintop, you will not miss internet or television here. Your cabin is comfortably catered for with gas cooking facilities, fresh rainwater, solar powered lights*, an eco-friendly composting toilet, a cosy wood heater and a private outdoor bath. The Huon Valley is home to cool-climate vineyards and is famous for it’s apple-growing heritage. Discover high quality local produce with an innovative and seasonal Huon Food Trail itinerary. Visit local art galleries on the Huon Trail and enjoy a lazy two-course lunch at Home Hill winery. Breakfast hampers are available by prior arrangement. *Huon Bush Retreats offers a true retreat; access is via 4km winding gravel road with a steep 500-meter section. Electricity is 12-volt solar power: phones and cameras can be charged at reception. A c.d. player and radio is provided, accommodation is TV. free.

Cabin Facilities

A contemporary, spacious eco-cabin nestled in the forest offering easy access, privacy and spectacular views of old growth forest. Big Tree Cabin is a self-contained studio cabin with gas cooking facilities, kitchen/dining/lounge area, en-suite bathroom, a cosy wood heater and a private deck with an outdoor bath. Ideally suited for couples it is equipped with a queen-sized bed. A single trundle and a sofa bed are also available.
