Activities:
* False Bay Yacht Club
situated in the centre of Simon's Town. The Clubhouse is a modern building with full ablution facilities. There is a bar and lounge area, called "The Crow's Nest", a restaurant "Galley" which serves exceptional, good value meals. There is also a braai (BBQ) area on the lawn outside.
There is safe swimming for the whole family, in clean water, right in front of the clubhouse.
* Simon's Town Country Club
Simon's Town Country Club, situated alongside Boulders National Park, overlooks False Bay and offers you the experience of an uncrowded 9 hole golf course with unsurpassed sea and mountain views. The club also offers bowls and squash facilities. The superb kitchen provides a large range of delicious and inexpensive breakfasts, pub lunches and easy meals.
*The Simonsberg Theatre
This an impressive stone structure situated in Simon's Town. Like the town itself, it is imbued with an air of history and was built in 1893 to serve as a naval hall. With seating for 375, it became the theatre of the Anchor Players in 1980. This much-loved theatre – and the Society to which it is home – continues to be a vibrant part of the Simon's Town cultural scene.
* Mineral World
Often considered the gemstone treasure chest of the world as almost half of the Earth's gemstones are found in this region. At the Scratch Patch in Simon's Town you can enjoy hunting through hundreds of thousands of polished gemstones that literally cover the floor. You can also visit their gemstone tumbling factory (the world's largest) - and see how rough stone is polished.
* Cape Peninsula National Park
Encompassing the Peninsula mountain chain that stretches from Signal Hill in the north to Cape Point in the south. Recognised globally for its extraordinarily rich and unique flora & fauna, this singular land formation - with its rugged cliffs, steep slopes and sandy flats - is a truly remarkable natural, scenic, historical, cultural and recreational asset locally, nationally and internationally.
* Boulders Beach
Situated just a few minutes away from El Mirador! No visit to this part of the world is complete without visiting the Boulders Beach penguin colony (famed for it's Jackass Penguin's). This is one of two mainland breeding colonies of the African Penguins. A sight too behold, bathers tanning and swimming while the penguins swim between them. Also see www.easysnorkeling.co.za
* Just Nuisance Cruise
Deep ocean big-game fishing ranges from 15 to 40 nautical miles from land. The most common catches include yellowfin, swordfish and bigeye and albacore (longfin) tuna, but can also produce black, blue or striped marlin. Yellowfin and bigeye tuna range in size from 30 to 100 kilograms, the albacore tuna from 8 to 30 kilograms.
* Great White Shark Cage Dives
The Cape South Coast is one of only three places in the world where white sharks can be viewed on a cage dive. Great White Shark cage dives provide the thrill of a lifetime. The Great White Shark Experience is a unique opportunity to view the Great White Shark in its natural environment, either from a boat or an underwater cage.
* Whale Watching
Each year Southern Right whales migrate into the coastal waters of the Western Cape to calve and nurse their young. These magnificent creatures provide unsurpassed whale watching opportunities between June and November. Humpbacks migrate through the region between May and December each year. Sightings are common place from the unique view point at El Mirador!
