We enjoyed our stay very much. The place was very warm and had a fully stocked kitchen which made it feel very homely. We would definitely recommend a stay at Driftwood.

The Lake
The full impact of the totally breathtaking scene from the beach really has to be seen to be believed and guests are quickly encouraged on arrival to walk down through the garden to the lake and see for themselves just where they are! There is an array of kayaks and rowboats to explore the lakeshore with ..early morning is the best time ...and if you just want to laze in the sun there are beach chairs and cushions Swimming in the crystal clear mountain water is not for everyone but it does warm up in the summer months !You can walk along the almost deserted lakeshore in both directions or follow the track to Jacks Point from the end of the garden

The Mountainbeech House
From the moment enter through the gate in the beautifully crafted dry stone wall you begin to feel as if you are an invited guest in someones much loved home and that is evident everywhere you look ....
The House is built on 3 levels and there are steps and stairs in and out of the house to the garden and courtyards
The main level has the kitchen with its beautiful timber benches,the dining table with seating for eight,the sunroom which doubles as a bedroom and opens out to a sunny courtyard and the living room with its wonderful open fireplace and elegant furnishings .
Upstairs the main bedroom looks out over the garden to the lake and mountains.The Southern Cross is visible in the night sky if you just happen to be awake! Next to this is the pretty in pink 'girls room ' with plenty of books for young readers ..its perfect for young children who need to be close to parents There is a bathroom between these bedrooms and the Main bathroom with bath/shower is on the landing halfway up the stairs .The third bathroom with shower and toilet is on the main floor level adjacent to the sunroom
All of the bedrooms have their unique style and all have superking or twin beds, beautiful linen and plenty of warm bedding
The Family room downstairs on the ground level has an extra double bed as well as the twin beds and a TV and DVD ,books and games making it an ideal teenagers space or a room for a young family with small children who all want to sleep together .
The ground level also houses the laundry and drying room

The Garden
The Garden with its native beech trees ,bellbirds and the constant background sound of the lake is a place to rest and relax and restore your soul .There are plenty of places to hide with a book , smell the roses or sleep in the hammock,
There is a firepit ,a barbeque ,.... and for the adventurous there is an outside bath for starry nights

Of course if you need to be in touch with the Outside world we have wireless internet connection ,private phone line ,SKY TV and the International Airport is only 10 minutes by car
We can organise day or overnight trips to Milford Sound or Doubtful Sound ,Dart River jet boating ,Bungy Jumping, Helicopter flights ,fishing trips or just give advice on the many wonderful local walks and the best restaurants that Queenstown and Arrowtown have to offer .
Whether you are looking for a special place to spend a family summer holiday ,a hideaway for honeymoon, or an action packed ski week Driftwood is a very special piece of paradise to be found
