Facilities

The Cottage provides all that you would require, within a charming house full of history and attractive interior. Three bedrooms provide comfortable and quiet sleeping areas. The loungeroom includes sideboard of books, DVDs, toys and magazines. Kitchen is well equipped and spacious.

Outdoor

The Cottage patio, paved with hand-made bricks, faces north for pleasant evenings and outdoor meals.
The sunroom is fully enclosed, providing the ideal venue for insect-free meals and recreation.
Wide verandahs are ideal play areas for youngsters.
The houseyard is secured with two gates. However, kangaroos enjoy the lawn, so be prepared to share the area!!

Historic Buildings

Your hosts, Alex and Ann, take a keen interest in history, and have returned several historic buildings to visitor standard. This includes the 1886 Homestead, 18 rooms of astounding displays and stories. 1876 Selector' Hut and 1890s Boundary Rider's Hut are rare examples of pioneering past. 1912 Woolshed and Shearers' Quarters are still fully functional, a highlight of the property.

Natural Woodland

300 hectare pristine box-pine woodland is rare example of species-rich pre-European native vegetation. Long lists of bird (120) and animal species. Over 250 species of native flora. Accompanied tours through this area are a highlight.

Lignum wetland

88 hectare site of lignum, now protected from stock, and returning to a dynamic wetland with many species of waterbirds and wetland vegetation.

Aboriginal sites

Two large areas of earth mound ovens, and an area of scar trees, provide fascinating insights into pre-European history. Nearby Boat Rock Hill is a significant site, well worth a visit for an hour or two... guided tour available.

Threatened species

The property is home to several threatened species of flora and fauna. The Superb Parrot frequents the box-pine woodland in large numbers from December - July. The Bush-Stone Curlew inhabits the box country along the ephemeral creek line, and we have a 5 hectare breeding site constructed.
