Style
Set in 7 acres of Nelson paradise, Corru Gate cottage embodies a distinctively creative NZ flavour – dark stained board and batten, and iconic corrugated iron. Barn-red detailing, internal use of railway sleepers, and sunny colours add to the kiwi styling. Combined with harakeke (flax), ferns and koru, this is Corru Gate’s real point of difference.

Environment and facilities
Corru Gate is built and maintained using eco-friendly principles. We value our natural environment (emerging wetlands, flax, birdlife and native trees). We have a spray-free hobby orchard – grab a lemon for your G&T on the deck before dinner, or cut open a delicious grapefruit for your breakfast. We make a point of being children-friendly with playground, tree-hut, an impressive 50m waterslide, highchair, portacot, bath, mountain buggy, babysitters etc.
Welcoming and comfortable, the cottage has a zany kitchen, and a classy bathroom with bath and shower. The sunny, open plan lounge/dining area has a huge picture window viewing on to native plantings, as well as French doors opening onto a sun-drenched deck and private designer garden. To keep you toasty warm in winter, there is an antique potbelly wood-burner. The cottage has its own laundry in your adjacent carport. Fully equipped with mod cons (dishwasher, microwave, stereo, TV, video, DVD, hair dryer, BBQ, own telephone line, and broadband high speed internet – available for a small daily fee), the cottage features quality furniture, as well as local and NZ art and sculpture.

Things to do
At Corru Gate there is plenty to do. Wander over our gently sloping paddocks, taking in the wonderful views of Tasman Bay – our cats and sheep will probably tag along. Corru Gate is also perfectly positioned at the art, vineyard and café hub of the region. The Naked Bun Patisserie, Wharfside Restaurant and The Appleshed Cafe are a salivating 4 minutes away in the seaside village of Mapua. Mapua and Ruby Bay also offer you beaches, shopping, art studios and galleries, Touch the Sea aquarium, horse riding, golf, and numerous other activities. Five vineyards are just up the road and several more nearby. Hoglunds Glass Art is 10 minutes and World of Wearable Arts is 25 minutes. Most of the Nelson potteries are within 20 minutes. The magnificent Rabbit Island beach is 10 minutes away, as is the Kina Golf Course, and Kaiteriteri beach is 30 minutes. Great rivers for swimming are within 10-20 minutes. Corru Gate is central for exploration and adventure. Three national parks are within an hour for climbing, tramping, skiing, rafting and kayaking.
