Location:
Palm Cove epitomises what it is to holiday in an intimate seaside enclave. With its postcard style beaches lined with coconut palms and its esplanade lined with melaleuca trees, Palm Cove really is paradise. A warm tropical buzz is always present which adds to the charm of the location and is the reason why in the last few years Palm Cove has become the tropical holiday destination of choice.
Palm Cove is under 1km off the Cook Highway, and about 30 minutes drive north from the Cairns International Airport. Its resident population is around 4,000 people, many of whom are connected with the tourism and hospitality industry so you’ll never feel overcrowded or rushed here. No-one does. Palm Cove accommodation is set amidst the seafront village which is laid back, but the service and facilities here are first class.
The beachfront esplanade is the focal point, with boutique restaurants, cafes, mini marts. There’s no high rise here, just a well planned beachfront community that knows exactly what’s special about the place they live – the beach which was named Australia’s Cleanest Beach in the Inaugural awards and the place people love coming to, again and again.
From Palm Cove, its easy to explore the hinterland. Hire a car or a bicycle, or book onto one of the many day tours that collect you at your doorstep. Our beautiful natural attractions – the world-Heritage-listed reefs and rainforests – are the first priorities for exploring. You can dive, snorkel, sail, canoe, hike, trail, drift in a balloon or ride in a helicopter to see it all. We are happy to help you book your holiday activities or advise you of the best local restaurants or night spots during your stay.
We also have superbly built attractions right here – excellent wildlife parks, cultural centres, a hinterland full of fruit wineries and coffee plantations, and superb roads to drive and explore it all. For more information on Palm Cove and our region, visit The Information Station.
