4 bedroom arch home in gorgeous rural quiet setting
4 Bedrooms in a quiet rural setting. 1 hr from a huge variety of activities. Ski, golf, jet boat, swim, tennis, arts.
Our house is so quiet in its lovely rural setting, only an orchestra of birdsong "disturbing" the peace, along with occasional stock farming sounds. Contemporary NZ art lines the walls, and the garden is often full of flowers. Access to so many things is so easy, with clear mountain rivers, lakes, and the sea all being within an hour's drive.

Rooms
The living room (see photos) is a large and light 30 foot by 20 foot comfortable room, especially for families of all ages, separated into discrete fully equipped kitchen, eating and living areas. The kitchen has an island bench, and is very well ergonomically designed. The living area contains an LCD TV, Sky and Mysky (TV recording device) as well as DVD and stereo. A large bookshelf, with interesting books is a feature of the living room. Outside, in fact on 3 sides of the house is a terraced area, with some areas verandahed as well. There is an outside fireplace backing onto the living room, in a very sheltered terraced area.
The sitting/dining room (see photos too) has a large dining table seating 12 comfortably, and comfortable seating for about the same number. It, like the living room, and in fact most of the house, is decorated with some of the best of New Zealand contemporary art.
The master bedroom with ensuite is upstairs, leading out to a roof garden attached, and with lovely views all around.
There are 3 double bedrooms downstairs, and the largest has views over the swimming pool and out to the Western hills and has an ensuite with bath and shower.
All of these open out to a terrace and the pool as well.
There is a separate laundry and a boot room.

Outdoors
The garden covers about half an acre with many rhododendrons, roses, deciduous trees and natives, and is a splendid sight from spring to autumn. There are 2 discrete areas separated by a high hedge. In the winter, snowy peaks are glimpsed in the distance.
A permanent tennis court, and swimming pool and croquet lawn ensures that there are plenty of activities for those young and old who are full of energy, as well as farm walks (by permission only) The property is situated half a mile from the road, with just 2 other houses within 200 yards either side, but also well separated by trees. Views from the house and garden are largely of rolling hills and deciduous forests.

Local and Christchurch amenities
Christchurch (1 hours drive away) has open parks, renowned gardens (public and nearly every home), high rise, wonderful cafes with fresh NZ cuisine (Pacific Rim - let us guide you) Sports galore, and culture for the most avid. Riccarton House is our family's old home, fascinating to see, set in original swamp bush. Our family was the first to settle ChCh in the 1830's. A contemporary town within a lovely English historical setting.
Darfield (ten minutes away) the local service town, has garages, hotel, supermarket, police, and 3-4 cafes. Espress Yourself is the pick of them.
The mountains and lakes are about an hour to the West, including Mount Hutt, and a handful of other skifields. The Rakaia and Waimakariri rivers are less than half an hour in either direction, for salmon fishing and jet boating. We are also very central for South Island tourism, being a couple of hours from the West Coast, and 4-5 hours from the Marlborough Sounds and Nelson, as well as Wanaka, Queenstown and Dunedin. We are 3/4 of an hour to the airport, and there are now plenty of cheap flights to South Island and North Island destinations from there.
