Master Bedroom - Nikau room
Wake up to a view of the serene Anzac Bay in the Nikau room.
Named after the only palm native to New Zealand, Nikau has a queen size bed, native hardwood floors and private deck with table for two.
The room also houses our antique Victrola , complete with vintage record collection.
|
|
Second bedroom - Harakeke
This room has been named after the ornamental and decorative native flax plant.
Harakeke is a double room with a queen size bed. There is an entrance to the walk around deck and views to the bay.
On the feature wall, you will find corrugated iron art work by well-renowned Kiwi artist, Sarah C, depicting the room’s namesake plant.
|
|
Third bedroom - Ti Kouka
Ti Kouka, named after a native cabbage tree, is an ideal room for parents and kids and is decorated with bright splashes of colour. The bunk bed is a single over a double with proper sprung mattresses. The room overlooks the back courtyard entertaining area and has access via the house and also the back deck.
The sequence covered cushions are from Dubai and the art work bought during our time in Genoa, Italy.
In Ti Kouka, you will find our small library of books available for exchange (for paper back novels only.

Bathroom
The bathroom has recently been renovated and equipped with an Italian-style ‘double’ shower, making bath time faster for and more interesting for some! The window is original but has had new glass put in place, courtesy of the glazier on the island.
In the bathroom you will find a selection of bath towels for your use.
Directly outside the bathroom window, near the clothesline, is an outdoor shower with hot and cold running water. This is the ideal place for kids to wash off sandy bodies after time at the beach.

Indoor dining and kitchen
The kitchen is a very social one and opens up to the dining room area. There is easy access to the back courtyard making it perfect for those summer BBQ’s! We have supplied the kitchen with everything you will need to prepare a family meal for 7 people – there is also an orange juicer, wine, champagne, beer glasses and tumblers, microwave, toasted sandwich maker, and picnic set. You will also find a supply of tea towels, sponges and cleaning products.
|
|
Living Room
The lounge room is bright and breezy by day, with views over the front deck to Anzac Bay, and warm and cosy at night, with the option of using the pot belly stove for cooler evenings. We also have a small bar which you are welcome to use. In the television cabinet you will find a selection of games and DVDs for your entertainment.
There is also a CD player, with iPod connection in addition to the big selection of music.
The art work on the wall above the couch is a photograph of a mainland beach taken by Peter Latham (www.peterlatham.com ). The corrugated iron art is another from Sarah C.

|
The Front Yard
The front yard is home to our mandarin tree, mint and parsley bushes and NZ’s famous Christmas tree, the Pohutukawa.
Here, you will also find a custom made table, seating 10-12, made from macrocarpa and inlaid with Paua shell.
The driveway is lined with lavender to provide for a pleasant smelling welcome to the villa.
The boat, Le Catchalot, is resident to Anzac Bay and owned by an artist in residence on the island.

The Shed
The shed houses all of the water toys and equipment for people looking for a more adventurous holiday on Waiheke.
For a detailed list of the equipment we house in the shed, please refer to the ‘Things to do at Anzac Villa’ section.
In addition to toys, we also keep a lot of gardening equipment, paint and other household supplies.
Feel free to potter around the garden at your leisure but ensure that, for their safety, children are kept away from this area at all times.
Prior to arriving at the villa, you will be sent the code number needed to access everything in the shed.

|
The Backyard
The backyard is a great space for family entertainment, whether it is for a BBQ or for relaxation on the day bed.
We have built a petonque pitch as close to regulation size and material as we could. You will find the balls, with playing instructions, located in the garden shed.
The silver fern stainless steel artwork was made by Lisa Sarah Garden art (http://lisasarah.com) and you can see more of her work located outside each of the three bedrooms.
For cooler evenings, or just for fun, feel free to start up the fire pit and roast some marshmallows.
Our fruit tree collection out the back includes a feijoa tree, a lemon tree (perfect for gins and tonic!), olive tree and a small chilli and herb gardens in the troughs by the porch

The Car
We have included our 7 seater Toyota Estima for you to use as well. This is the ideal island transport for the house and the island - all of the guests of the villa can fit in one car!

b. Petanque pitch
We built the petanque pitch as close to regulation size as we could given the area available. We used sand to level out the area and to provide appropriate drainage, and topped the pitch with ‘regulation’ beach shell. Therefore, no excuses for not winning!
Our neighbours and other island residents love to play the game and have admitted to calling it ‘Plonc’ in honour of what they drink prior, during and following a match . . .
c. Fire pit
The fire pit can be moved around outside depending on where you wish to enjoy the warmth of the fire. Just be sure not to put it close to flammable objects! Wood for the fire can be found under the front porch near the pohutukawa tree.
