The Fremantle Festival, full of art & culture held in November, when the streets come to life with colour and activities for weeks.
In October, at the start of the new fishing season, Fremantle holds a festival called "The Blessing of the Fleet", to bring good fortune to the fishing harbour and its many fishermen. Part of the ceremony involves the blessing of the boats after a street procession from St Patrick's Church to the Fishing Boat Harbour. The procession itself is led by a statute of Our Lady who protects the local fisherman.
