About Queenstown
Surrounded by majestic mountains and nestled on the shores of crystal clear Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown is New Zealand’s premier four season lake and alpine resort.
Whatever you do, whatever your style, Queenstown will feed your imagination, fuel your passions and revitalise your spirit. From thrill-seeking adventurers wanting bungy-jumping and jet-boating to wine lovers wanting to sample the delights of our many boutique wineries, Queenstown has it all.
|
Food and Wine
The ultimate in taste sensations, there are more than 150 great eateries to choose from in Queenstown and Arrowtown, not counting the winery restaurants between Lake Hayes and Gibbston.
And of course sampling a decadent drop or two of one of Central Otago's great award-winning wines will provide the finishing touch to a heavenly dining experience.

Spring
Officially 1 September to 30 November. Weather is unpredictable, sublime one moment, spring showers the next. Temperatures span 8°Celsius to 22°Celsius (48°F to 75°F).
The colours, sights, scents and sounds of Queenstown reawaken the senses as winter sheds its cloak to reveal warmer weather and longer days. Skiing and snowboarding in spring is fantastic fun for all the family as a laid back atmosphere and warmer weather pervades the slopes.
|
Summer
Officially 1 December to 28 February – daytime temperatures hover between 20° - 30°C (mid 70°s - 90°F). The 45° south latitude means summer days are long - midsummer dawn is as early as 5am and dusk doesn't settle until around 10pm.
Early mornings and long days provide plenty of time for play. It's not all about testing gravity with bungy jumps, swings and skydives though. Queenstown happily lends itself to everyone's idea of fun and there are plenty of kicks from a round of frisbee golf in the gardens or a rejuvenating spa bath under the stars. Summertime is also high season for the region's many stunning walking tracks.
|
Autumn
Officially 1 March to 31 May. Temperatures fluctuate between several degrees below zero and 25°C (32°F - 77°F), so pack a few layers, including t-shirts.
It's still warm enough for most summer pursuits, and long walks in the hills take on a new appeal under the brilliant colours of autumn foliage. Otherwise, enjoy the vivid colours as you dine al fresco, play a round of golf, or take to the clear waterways. A luxurious and relaxed time with a vivid backdrop of brilliant reds and golds of the autumn leaf fall.
|
Winter
Officially 1 June to 31 August - rug up, keep cosy. Winter temperatures seldom reach more than 7°C or 8°C (44°F - 46°F) and can fall well below 0°C (32°F), and the ski season often lasts ultil early October.
An electric vibe sweeps over the town before each big snowfall in anticipation of fresh tracks and a winter wonderland. Skiers, snowboarders and alpine lovers are drawn to the region's six international standard ski areas, open from June, a spirited après ski culture and plenty of off-slope action.
