Location and surroundings
aBaoaQu is at the third floor of a historical building. The house was built in 1516 and although it got renovated several times, it kept its structure. It is located in the heart of the historical centre of the city and several main sightseeing attractions are in walking distance, such as Piazza Pretoria, Chiesa di Santa Caterina, Chiesa di San Cataldo, Chiesa della Martorana, Cathedral and Palazzo dei Normanni, Teatro Massimo, Piazza Marina, and Teatro Politeama.
The train station is about 10' by foot. The famous, lively street markets of Palermo such as Vucciria, Ballarò and Capo are very close. The house and its surroundings, being off the main traffic roads, are calm and quiet. aBaoaQu is located at about 100m from the famous 'Quattro Canti'.

The apartment
aBaoaQu has undergone two renovations, the last one in 2009. For the renovations only organic and / or non-toxic materials were used respecting both planet Earth and the health of the visitors. The walls were dyed with natural colours, gently extracted from the Mediterranean islands. The apartment surface is of roughly 100m2 and was entirely covered - bathroom and kitchen included - with a special, certified wood. It gives to the flat a very elegant and natural look.
The many windows and three balconies fill the flat with natural light, the more than 4m height ceiling increases the feeling of light- and vastness.
The entrance is common with another small flat on the upper floor, but it’s independent as it is closed by an entrance door, all the rooms are communicating, no doors inside. The flat is composed of one bedroom, a big living room, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom and a laundry corner.
In the day-to-day running of the house environmentally friendly cleaning products are used, such as energy efficient light bulbs, organic detergents and the wood stove for the heating.

The living room
With its 50m2 the living room is the largest room of the apartment. The combination of the magnificent wooden floor and the natural colours used for the walls create a unique charm and atmosphere. One feels immediately at ease and at welcome. Plants, wonderful paintings and several ethno art pieces give a very special touch to the flat. For colder days a wood stove can be used. The couch can be converted into a very large, comfortable double bed. An oval table can easily accommodate six people. Adjacent to the living room is the kitchen and the bed room. There is a stereo and several books about Sicily and Palermo at disposal.

The bedroom
The bedroom consists of two beds, a cupboard and a little desk. The beds are new and of superior quality, they can either be separated or kept together. A large window with a balcony assures natural light. As in the other rooms the floor is made out of wood. Sheets are provided.

The bathroom
The 20m2 large bathroom is equipped with a tub, shower, bidet, toilet, a sink with a shelf as well as with rotatable furniture with a mirror. The bath being completely renovated, Sicilian majolica was put around the tub and the wall decorated with a gentle hand painting. Shells and minerals evidence the love for the sea. The overall atmosphere is very relaxing, also because of the candles. Towels and hairdryer are provided.

The kitchen
The kitchen is fully equipped, has a large working area, a gas kitchen with oven, and a new, large refrigerator with an integrated freezer. Most commonly used utensils and instruments as well as a small stock of spices, oil, sugar, salt, coffee, etc. are available too. Several household appliances are provided (electric kettle, steamer, centrifuge, citrus-fruit squeezer), as well as tea towels, cups and tumblers, dinner plates, bowls, small plates, set of cutlery, teapots, several caffettiere, pots and pans, large bowls for salad, corkscrew, etc.. A fee-paying small fridge-bar with bear, wine and snacks is available. In the balcony of the kitchen there are sweet herb pots (rosemary, basil, sage, chilli, bay, marjoram and citronella) at the disposal of the guests.

The laundry
A laundry machine, an iron and detergents (mostly eco friendly), multi-purpose cleaners, washing up brush/cloth are provided. Small extra fee for using the washing machine

Notices
This is a non smoking flat. Shoes are not allowed inside the flat, the floor has wooden parquet. Pets allowed (prior arrangement).
